Dean Smith suffered his first defeat as Aston Villa boss on Tuesday evening as Norwich City fought back from behind to secure a 2-1 victory and all three points.
James Chester had given Villa an early lead but a brace from Jordan Rhodes turned the game on its head, leaving Smith’s side three points off the playoff spots and having played a game more than many of their promotion rivals.
Summer signing Orjan Nyland has been a mainstay of Villa’s campaign so far this season but many fans appear to have had enough with the goalkeeper, as they took to social media after the match to criticise the 28-year-old.
Nyland has struggled to look solid in recent matches and his nervy performances have led to a continued rise in criticism from supporters, with things once again boiling over as they urged Smith to make a change.
