Arsenal’s 2018/19 Premier League campaign kicks off this Sunday when they host reigning champions Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium. It will be a baptism of fire for new manager Unai Emery, who is still faced with an abundance of selection dilemmas after inheriting an under-performing squad from Arsene Wenger.
Perhaps the most significant of those is how to use Arsenal’s two incredibly talented goalscorers, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. While the latter enjoyed a more potent start to his Gunners career during the second half of last season, Lacazette showed his netting prowess during his time at Lyon and has been clinical for the north Londoners at times as well.

Throughout pre-season, Emery has experimented with including both in his starting XI with some mixed results, so we asked Arsenal fans exactly how the new gaffer should look to get the best out of both players this Sunday; playing Lacazette out wide, playing Aubameyang out wide, benching one of the two or starting them up front at the top of a bold 4-4-2 formation.
And our poll has revealed that the slimmest of majorities, 51%, reckon Emery should take a tactical risk by setting up his side in a 4-4-2. That arguably plays into City’s hands as a possession-based team and its not a system Emery tried in pre-season, but do Arsenal have the personnel in other departments to pull it off?
