Many Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have suggested they want their club to sign RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano following his display in his side’s 0-0 draw with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Sunday.
Leipzig remained one point behind their opponents in the Bundesliga table following the stalemate, and Frenchman Upamecano came away with a decent performance and a clean sheet to his name. His showing included one moment of magic where he stopped a certain goal on the line, cleared the resulting corner and then ran with the ball into the opposition half.
He may only be 21 years of age, but he is already attracting interest from plenty of top European clubs, including Bayern, Barcelona and Arsenal, as per Bild.
The France U21 international has made 24 appearances in all competitions for his current employers this term, and his latest outing was actually his 99th in a Leipzig shirt despite his relatively tender years.

Spurs supporters made their feelings on the centre-back clear on the popular social media platform, as you can see below.
One individual urged chairman Daniel Levy to get a deal done, while another suggested manager Jose Mourinho would have been impressed with what he saw after he was pictured in the crowd at the Allianz Arena – presumably scouting Leizpig ahead of Tottenham’s Champions League round of 16 clash against the German outfit.
While many simply waxed lyrical over the centre-half, others decided to either compare him to one of their current centre-backs – Davinson Sanchez coming off the worst in this case – or dream about a potential future partnership if he did sign – with Japhet Tanganga.

There is a little doubt that Upamecano would have to be seen as an exciting addition for the north London outfit, but if Spurs did want him it appears as though they’d have plenty of competition for his signature if reports are to be believed.
They may well need a new centre-back soon, with Jan Vertonghen’s future surely in further doubt given his reaction to his substitution against Southampton, and the fact he is out of contract in the summer.
